THEY certainly proved they can talk the talk by declaring "war" on Monday night's My Kitchen Rules, but guests were left divided as to whether or not gatecrashers Ashlee and Sophia dished up winners when finally put to the test in the latest episode.

The hot-tempered duo from New South Wales stepped into the kitchen for the first time, serving up a number of Vietnamese-inspired meals to their expectant guests.

The girls attempted to set the mood, seating their visitors with a flaming shot of absinthe - unfortunately this seemed to have the reverse effect, with Manu and Pete taking note of the "tension, anticipation and anxiety" when they walked into The Factory.

Promising to "bring it", the girls created a poached chicken salad with Asian herbs as an entree, which unfortunately failed to impress. "That dish only took me halfway to Vietnam", Steph commented.

After a lengthy wait in between meals, their main dish of shrimp and pork Vietnamese pancakes proved more successful - Manu declared they "kicked arse" - yet it was a shame the "babes" couldn't quite seem to get their pork tender enough.

Lime creme brûlée was on the menu for dessert, and after a few nearly-singed eyebrows with a monster blow torch, the pair managed to deliver their final dish for the evening unscathed.

While it was hit-and-miss with the judges, no one was more disappointed than Stefano who had "expected to dive into this pleasure of cream".

Given the showdown that ensued on Monday night around the table after Ashlee and Sophie revealed their inner brat and Angela accused the pair of having a "personality disorder", viewers tuned in expecting nothing less than an epic no-holds-barred culinary clash tonight. But, despite a few lingering scowls between the cooks and their competitors, manners were minded.

Knowing that the other teams were "coming to get them", the girls were hardly surprised with their score of 17 out of 50, but their judge's score of 47 took them to a total of 64 out of 110, pushing them to second on the leaderboard.

This meant we said goodbye to MKR's resident lovebirds, Stefano and Lisa. But that's ok, because they have a wedding to plan.

On Thursday night all teams are united and will be challenged under extreme conditions, but will the game gatecrashers stand a chance against the top teams?
