THE 12 most sun-drenched beaches. The 15 destinations with the friendliest people. The best value-holiday spots. Cities with the best pizza (or burgers).

OK, fine, there's a place for all those places. But what about the most dangerous cities? You know, the must-visits for the truly adventurous traveller. Or, flipping that, must-not-visits for the danger-averse.

For them, the Law Street website has analysed the latest FBI statistics and published its list of the top 10 most dangerous cities in America.

According to the report, the most dangerous US city with a population of more than 200,000 is Detroit.

Here's the city's profile:

• Population: 699,889

• Ratio of police to civilians: 1:297

It's a bustling city, though. Source: Getty Images

• Population below poverty line: 38.1 per cent

• Violent crime rate: 2072 incidents per 100,000 people

• Murder rate: 45 per 100,000 people

Not exactly the preferred focus of the city's visitor and convention bureau's marketing materials. But still, a perspective on the recently bankrupted Detroit that prospective visitors should be aware of.

The full list of the 10 scariest cities, from most to least dangerous, is as follows:

1. Detroit, Michigan

2. Oakland, California

3. Memphis, Tennessee

4. St. Louis, Missouri

The grim reality of crash site

Search and recovery efforts of crashed Germanwings flight 4U9525 resume in the French Alps. Julie Noce reports.

AS THE sun broke over the snow-capped peaks of the French Alps this morning, so too it dawned on authorities for the first time the grim task scattered before them.

Such is the devastation, French authorities have taken to using everyday images to describe the scene to the public — fuselage wreckage is no bigger than a family car, body parts no bigger than briefcases, the scattering of the scene the size of two football stadiums.

Up to 640 French gendarme and specialist fire and rescue personnel yesterday began their first full-day probe at the site of the downed Germanwings Flight 9525 which fell from the sky on Tuesday, killing all 150 passengers and crew on-board including at least two Australians.

The mother and son from Victoria, Carol and Greig Friday, had been enjoying a holiday of a lifetime in Barcelona before they boarded the Airbus A320 aircraft for the 10am flight from the Spanish city to Dusseldorf in Germany.

The flight never made it over the Alps, having just reached cruising altitude of 38,000ft before one minute later plummeting for the next eight minutes to 6,550ft and then ploughing into the side of the snow-capped range.

Analysts who retrieved one of the two black box flight recorders are yet to say what caused the crash but suggested the rate of descent must have been a catastrophic failure. It has also been revealed the pilots were most likely so busy trying to save their aircraft they did not make any distress signal or call. Weather was fine and not deemed a factor to the crash.

The site of the wreckage is a remote corner of the French Alps, in a deep broken moonscape-like ravine with everything on flight 9525 scattered over the whole area.

Local prosecutor Brice Robin said forensic investigators had begun the priority task of identifying bodies but it could take weeks to identify them through DNA and other methods.

"It's big, bigger than big," Regional Gendarme commander and site operations and investigation co-ordinator General David Galtier told News Corp Australia, describing the scene and task ahead.

Germanwings crash ... Gendarmes Regional commander General David Galtier at Seyne-les-alpes. Picture: Ella Pellegrini Source: Supplied

The general says while his troops could reach the site on foot in two hours, the terrain was just too harsh and overnight snow and rain made it dangerous. Instead, a mixed squadron of rescue, commercial and military helicopters propping at a small aerodrome near the Seyne-les-Alps village ran an all-day relay ferrying personnel into the mountains to preserve the site and begin the gruesome task of retrieving the bodies of the victims.

Gen Galtier said as well as his 600 personnel now in the area he had a small team of psychologists, doctors and priests to help the victims' families who began their journey into the mountains to find answers.

They are coming from all corners of the world apparently with manifests now revealing the passengers on the doomed low-cost German airliner included 67 Germans, a large number of Spaniards maybe at least 40, two each from Australia, Japan and Colombia, three Kazaks, three British and one each from the Netherlands, Israel, Denmark, Turkey and Mexico.

"The most important for us is to preserve the zone and find the bodies, that is the most important thing for us," he said.

"The wreckage area is very large, it is difficult to get there and work there and that is why we have specialist (gendarme) personnel here. The area I would say that we are dealing with is the size of two football stadiums.

"It will be a very, very long operation and investigation to find out what happened. We have to go in there (site) little by little, slowly, this is important for our investigation."

General Galtier said it was a French operation but had international cooperation and coordination with the German and Spanish authorities and others.

He said at the foremost of the minds of his men and women was also the families. He said they were expecting many would come to the coordination and command staging post at Seyne-les-Alpes and want explanations.

"We want to explain to them what happened but also to assure them that we are finding their loved ones," he said.

He said he would be showing German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francoise Hollande first hand view of the site and explain with detailed maps of the extensive nature of operations. The leaders were also expected to have a private meeting with some of the victims' families.

Authorities said the retrieval of the victims' bodies is expected to take several days, making positive identities could take week although many relatives of the victims have already provided DNA swab samples to help in the identification process.

Reports out of Germany suggest the flight was grounded just 24 hours earlier with technical problems centred around its landing gear. Neither the airline nor air crash investigators would confirm or deny the reports.

Spokespeople for the airline yesterday said they had not even yet established why the flight took off half an hour behind schedule. Yesterday many Germanwings aircrew refused to fly, stranding passengers in both Germany and the UK, claiming they had safety fears.

The flight of the Germanwings, owned and operated by Lufthansa, was carrying six crew and 144 passengers, including 16 German teenagers returning home from a school exchange trip. Their hometown Llinars del Valles held a memorial yesterday.

"This is certainly the darkest day in the history of our city," said a tearful Bodo Klimpel, the town's mayor. "It is the worst thing you can imagine."

Spain declared three days mourning for their dead as Spanish King Felipe cut short his first state visit to France.

Among the dead also, opera singers Oleg Bryjak, 54, and Maria Radner, 33, flying to their home city of Dusseldorf. Radner was travelling with her husband and baby, one of two infants on board the plane.

The doomed aircraft's last routine check was March 23 in Germany by Lufthansa technicians with a major overhauling check performed in 2013.

The Captain of the doomed flight had more than 10 years flying experience and 6000 flight hours of this particular model.

IN AN exclusive interview with WHO, new mum Asher Keddie opens up about her first days with baby son Valentino.

"I can't believe how much I love him, it's indescribable," says the Gold Logie–nominated star of Offspring and Party Tricks.

The couple's little boy arrived two weeks early on March 1 – a "lovely surprise" for his laid-back mum.

"I'll always remember that moment we met him to be one of pure joy," she says. As was introducing Fantauzzo's 5-year-old son Luca to his little brother: "He just melted," says Keddie.

The couple who tied the knot in April 2014 in a secret barefoot ceremony in Fiji after first meeting two years earlier when Fantauzzo painted her for the Archibald Prize, share the intimate family portraits taken by Fantauzzo in the magazine and it's obvious how much they are besotted with their dark-haired new addition.

News.com.au broke the news of the couple's impending arrival after Keddie arrived at the GQ Men of Style Awards sporting a gorgeous baby bump.

"I'm not big on cravings but anything dairy for some reason. I want lots of cheese and lots of pistachios," she told news.com.au of her pregnancy diet at the time.

The issue of WHO, which is on sale March 26, also quizzes new mums Rachel Finch, Candice Falzon and Hamish Blake's better half, Zoë Foster Blake about their busy lives.

"Seeing (baby Ivy) in David's arms was the most precious moment. She's the spit out of his mouth, so to see the love and the bond they had from the very start—that overwhelming love—was something I'll treasure forever," says Falzon.

"I grew up a tomboy, so when I had a girl I thought, "This is going to be interesting!" But I'm embracing it. It's brought out my softer side, so I'm absolutely loving it.

"I love watching him play with his daddy," says Zoë Foster Blake of son Sonny. And what of motherhood? "It's a bit of a cliché, but it's that new-found, overwhelming, all-encompassing, protective, unequivocal love that you have for them. I realise now why mums become worrywarts, because you've just got mama-lion instinct!"

"I see myself as the mother of Violet now, and a woman with different elements to her life. I can't wait for my layers to keep developing," says Finch. Source: Supplied

Clarkson sacked from Top Gear

Hit the road ... Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has been fired by the BBC. Picture: AP Source: AP

The BBC has dropped one of its most popular presenters, Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson for "extreme" verbal and physical abuse of a producer.

"It is with great regret that I have told Jeremy Clarkson today that the BBC will not be renewing his contract," BBC Director-General Tony Hall said, two weeks after the presenter was suspended from the hit motoring show.

Mr Hall said the decision to fire Clarkson was based on evidence of his "sustained and prolonged verbal abuse of an extreme nature" against senior producer Oisin Tymon.

"For me a line has been crossed," he said, acknowledging the popularity of the program. "There cannot be one rule for one and one rule for another dictated by either rank, or public relations and commercial considerations."

Clarkson, who is yet to make an official statement. updated his Twitter bio to say: "I used to be a presenter on the BBC2 motoring show, Top Gear."

His contarct expires at the end of the month.

Oisin thanked the BBC for a "thorough and swift" investigation into what he called a "very regrettable incident".

"I've worked on Top Gear for almost a decade, a program I love," he said in a statement. "Over that time Jeremy and I had a positive and successful working relationship, making some landmark projects together.

"He is a unique talent and I am well aware that many will be sorry his involvement in the show should end in this way."

Mr Hall said the BBC still hoped to renew Top Gear, which makes the broadcaster around

£50 million ($75 million) each year, for another season.

"This will be a big challenge and there is no point in pretending otherwise," he said.

There was no indication of whether Clarkson would be replaced.

Clarkson's suspension last month sparked nationwide debate, with Prime Minister David Cameron among those weighing in on Clarkson's side and more than one million signing an online petition calling for him to be reinstated.

But the presenter was already on his last warning from the BBC, for whom he has worked since 1988, after drawing fire over a string of inflammatory remarks.

Most damaging for Clarkson have been accusations of using the N-word while reciting an old nursery rhyme in leaked footage, something the presenter denied.

He was also accused of making a racially offensive comment about an Asian man. Top Gear has regularly been criticised over its depiction and jokes at the expense of Albanians, Romanians and Germans among others.

Last year, the team fled Argentina after residents hurled stones at a Porsche Clarkson was driving whose licence plates appeared to make reference the Falklands War.

The BBC was also forced to apologised to Mexico after the show described Mexicans as "lazy" and "feckless".

You won’t believe what’s inside

Turkish police detained two Georgians on the Sarp border crossing in the Turkish city of Artvin on Monday, after one of them tried to smuggle the other in via suitcase. A 25 year-old man was ordered by customs officials to open his luggage after he was found to be acting suspiciously. Authorities then found a 22-year-old woman inside, curled up in the fetal position. The woman told police that she tried to smuggle herself in as she had an access ban due to a past conviction in Turkey. Both were deported after their detention.

Customs officials at the Sarp border in the city of Artvin, one of three official border crossings between the two countries, spotted a 25-year-old man acting suspiciously and decided to investigate.

What they found when inspecting his luggage was a 22-year-old woman packed inside.

It is believed she went to such lengths because a previous conviction in Turkey meant she was banned from travelling there.

The couple were detained for attempting to illegally cross the border and were deported soon afterwards.

TEARS FOR MASA: Police hunt for running man

Written By Unknown on Rabu, 18 Maret 2015 | 23.26

Police are investigating the murder of a 17-year-old girl found repeatedly stabbed at Melbourne reserve.

THE first picture showing the face of a man police want to speak with about the cold-blooded stabbing murder of a teenage schoolgirl in a random daylight attack has been released.

Homicide Squad detectives obtained the image of the man on a bus just minutes after the frenzied Doncaster attack which saw 17-year-old Masa Vukotic die on Tuesday.

The picture shows the man standing on the 7.09pm bus, which he boarded on Doncaster Rd.

A source close to the investigation told the Herald Sun on Wednesday night they were investigating whether the man's shirt was bloodstained.

Police believe he got off the bus at the junction of Hoddle and Johnston streets, in Abbotsford.

It follows the release of CCTV footage, showing a man dressed in black running north along Heyington Ave, towards Doncaster Rd with a plastic shopping bag.

In the latest photo released at 10.50pm, the man was still carrying the bag. He took off the dark jacket to reveal his red T-shirt.

The picture is a major breakthrough for the Homicide Squad who have urged the man, or anyone who knows him, to contact police.

The clear facial image was taken of the man getting on a bus minutes after and just metres from where Masa old was stabbed at the Koonung Creek Linear Park footbridge.

The images are of the same man seen running — dressed in black clothing — shortly after neighbours heard the teenager's chilling screams and called 000.

Detective Inspector Mick Hughes said police were probing whether the killer had lain in wait for a random victim or had been stalking Masa for days.

But on Wednesday night they were treating it as a random attack, possibly by a local.

"My experience tells me people tend to congregate in the areas that they know," said Insp Hughes.

"All from my aspect, I'd certainly be considering anybody local. People are creatures of habit," he said.

FAMILY, FRIENDS WEEP FOR 'SWEET' MASA

HEARTBREAK FOR A LOST SCHOOLMATE

SUSIE O'BRIEN: SHE HAD A RIGHT TO FEEL SAFE

Masa, a Canterbury Girls' Secondary College student completing her VCE, was wearing headphones when attacked in daylight.

The CCTV footage and the seizure of a nearby resident's outdoor tap — which police believe the killer used to wash his bloodied hands — could prove vital.

The man seen sprinting up Heyington Ave in the footage was carrying what appeared to be a white plastic shopping bag which may have concealed the murder weapon.

Locals Chloe Benedetti and Matthew Petrucev said they were "shaken" after hurrying to the scene and hearing the evident distress of others.

"You could hear the screams, it was horrible," Mr Petrucev said.

Insp Hughes said: "We've got an open mind as to whether it's random or not — we are certainly treating it as a random attack.

"This is part of her routine. She has been walking daily. Like a lot of us she's just out there walking and trying to stay fit. It's just tragic you can't do that today."

He added: "We'll throw all our resources behind this to ensure the offender is caught."

On Wednesday night friends gathered at the crime scene, dressed in pink and laying pink flowers, Masa's favourite colour.

A fellow student from her college laying flowers with her mother said: "A lot of the year 12s were crying.

"The teachers were all upset too. It's just weird to think that it's all just so close to us, when it happens to someone in your own school."

Friend Carlee said Masa had no enemies and was a good, well-behaved girl.

"She didn't speak to many people, she kept to herself and had a small group of friends," Carlee said.

"She wouldn't have had any enemies. That's why this has shocked me so much, she's the last person to have someone want to harm her."

Neighbours of the Vukotic home, just 500m from where she was killed, expressed disbelief at what had occurred.

Betty Lee said the family, which also included another younger daughter, was very close-knit.

"We are just devastated," she said. "They are just a really carefree happy family — all of them.

"They were always out here kicking a ball. They were just really outdoorsy. They are not cottonwool kids."

Ms Lee added: "We are in absolute shock. The teen was a happy go lucky youth. She was just really nice and sweet — gorgeous.

"Every time I saw her she had a smile on her face.

"Words just can't describe it. It's just unimaginable — totally unimaginable." Investigators hope a garden tap will yield vital forensic evidence.

They seized the tap from the front yard of Heyington Avenue resident Ermanno Di Battista, believing the killer may have used it to wash his bloodstained hands.

"A police officer told me, 'We think he washed his hands with your tap'," Mr De Battista said.

He added: "It's terrible. It's very, very bad."

His home is on the same street that the man on CCTV was seen sprinting up shortly after the fatal attack.

Young mum Vicky, who lives across the road from where the murder happened, arrived home late yesterday to find the area cordoned off

"It's terrible — normally it should be really safe in this area," she said.

"There are so many kids around here because the school is just nearby. And there are so many people just exercising and running.

"It's scary. It wasn't even dark, it was daytime. I just want whoever did this to be arrested — fast."

Grace, laying flowers, said: "I go for a walk every day here. It's just an innocent girl.

"It's really quiet and there are so many parks around. It's just sad you can't go for a walk and be safe.

"I'm sure people won't be going for a walk tonight that's for sure."

Yi Hua Jia, whose 15-year-old daughter walks the path every day, said she and her husband were getting ready for their nightly walk when they heard a scream.

"I just heard screeching," Mrs Jia said.

She said her husband suggested someone may have fainted or fallen but Mrs Jia said the noise sounded far more serious.

The couple went to investigate and saw a black jacket lying on the road, near the intersection of Stanton St and Heyington Ave.

Mrs Jia said she saw police cars arriving but she said she did not know the full extent of the tragedy until she woke up yesterday.

Clarkson furious at ‘paedophile smear’

JEREMY Clarkson has come out guns blazing at the BBC after a senior employee compared him to serial rapist and paedophile Jimmy Savile.

The Top Gear host has instructed lawyers to demand a retraction from the corporation after the "defamatory" smear was spread the groundless claims and is seeking a full investigation into their identity.

The comments came after the presenter was suspended for allegedly punching BBC producer Oisin Tymon in what they are calling a "fracas".

"Fracas" ... Clarkson was suspended last week after he allegedly punched producer Oisin Tymon. Picture: Supplied Source: No Source

The source said that politicians — including the Prime Minister, David Cameron — were turning a blind eye to Clarkson's bad behaviour, in the same way as people once did with Savile, the now notorious paedophile.

Since Savile's death, it has been acknowledged that he was a prolific child abuser and sexually assaulted young people.

Friends of Clarkson say he believes the source is connected to political figure, James Purnell, who is the BBC's head of strategy, but Purnell denies any involvement in the smear campaign.

Yesterday, the BBC's director-general Lord Hall, insisted that the BBC still needs to determine the facts about Clarkson's "fracas" before making any decisions about his future.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that Clarkson is set to return to the BBC next month despite his suspension, after being booked as a guest presenter on the new series of Have I Got News For You.

Despite these legal matters, Clarkson and his co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May, have a number of upcoming Top Gear Live arena shows and are determined not to disappoint fans who have paid up to £95 ($183) for a ticket.

Qantas leaves staff hopping mad

Qantas Airbus A380 aircraft on the Los Angeles route will trial in-flight access to internet, including emails, for all passengers. Picture: Supplied Source: Supplied

A SEARCH is on to find more suitable accommodation for Qantas flight crews in Los Angeles after the airline switched to a "pet friendly" hotel opposite Disneyland, in an apparent cost cutting move.

Although the Anaheim Hilton is closer to LA Airport than alternative digs at Costa Mesa, crews have been unhappy about the noise from excited guests, animals, and the nearby theme park which stages nightly fireworks displays.

But the biggest issue is the neighbouring convention centre that hosts regular music festivals and concerts.

Cost cutting ... Qantas is now putting its sleep-deprived crew up at a loud hotel near Disneyland after working flights to LA. Picture: Supplied Source: Supplied

As a result, unions representing flight attendants and pilots have been inundated with complaints from members and fear if the situation continues flights may be cancelled.

"If crews are not adequately rested, they are required to report unfit for duty," said Flight Attendants Association of Australia National Industrial Officer Steven Reed.

"That hasn't happened yet but if there's not a move, that could be the situation."

He said they understood it was a logistical challenge for the airline to accommodate crews in a city like Los Angeles where occupancy rates were generally high.

But Mr Reed said it may be the case Qantas would have to spend a "few more dollars" to ensure flight crews were well rested.

"The 14 to 15-hour flights from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane arrive into LA about 7 or 8 in the morning. Then it's an hour bus ride to Anaheim," said Mr Reed.

Complaints ... Qantas is being slammed for making its flight crew stay at a noisy hotel in California. Picture: AP/Rick Rycroft Source: AP

"By the time you get to the hotel you want to go for a walk and then get some rest, not face a rock band playing in the foyer and kids running up and down the halls."

Flight attendants get one night between the long haul flights and pilots two-nights.

The hotel change was made 12-months ago shortly after group CEO Alan Joyce announced plans to slash $2 billion over three years.

In the group's half-year results delivered last month, it was revealed the transformation program had delivered $374 million in savings.

Noisy ... Qantas crew can't sleep near Mickey's Fun Wheel roller-coaster at Disneyland. Picture: Supplied Source: Supplied

It is unclear what savings are being made from the hotel change but standard rates at the Anaheim Hilton are about two-thirds of those at the Marriott and Hilton at Costa Mesa, or a difference of $100 a room a night.

Security guards were being used to try to minimise disruption on the floors where the crews were located, Mr Reed said.

"But there's not much you can do about music so loud that it penetrates the walls and your silicon ear plugs."

A meeting has been scheduled with Qantas next week to try to resolve the issue.

"Qantas is keen to address our concerns," he said.

A Qantas spokesman acknowledged the noise issues and said they were working with the hotel to get advance notice of music festivals so they could book crews elsewhere.

Bali Nine duo fight to stay alive

ANDREW Chan, Myuran Sukumaran and others facing execution in Indonesia could still launch multiple legal actions to delay or prevent their executions, says an Australian legal expert based in Hong Kong.

Dr Daniel Pascoe, from the School of Law at the City University of Hong Kong, has also flagged the possibility that Indonesia, which argues fiercely for its sovereign right to carry out the death penalty, may be in breach of international treaties.

Dr Pascoe has written a paper outlining grounds for new legal challenges to save the death-row prisoners, in addition to the action that is currently afoot in the State Administrative Court of Jakarta.

Final hope ... Bali Nine duo Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran could launch multiple legal actions. Picture: AP Source: Supplied

That action, to be heard today, argues that President Joko Widodo did not give proper consideration when in January he wholesale denied clemency to 64 death-row drug runners, including Chan and Sukumaran.

The Australians' legal team in Indonesia, led by Todung Mulya Lubis, says President Widodo showed a poor sense of justice and procedural unfairness in hastily dismissing all the clemency appeals.

Dr Pascoe, who has written extensively on death penalty law in South-East Asia, goes further.

He sees grounds for an international challenge, given that in 2006 Indonesia became a signatory to the UN's International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which states that anyone "sentenced to death shall have the right to seek pardon or commutation of the sentence".

He said that President Widodo's blanket rejections of clemency without considering each prisoner's individual circumstances "results in a violation of Indonesia's international obligations".

Nightmare ... Andrew Chan's mother, Helen, after visiting her son at Nusakambangan Island. Picture: Adam Taylor Source: News Corp Australia

Dr Pascoe notes that a number of cases relating to the death penalty — including cases taken on behalf of members of the Bali Nine — and challenges even to the method of execution itself have been heard and failed.

But he argues there are several possible Constitutional Court actions that could drag out the cases, potentially for years.

One is that most prisoners spend long years on death-row, which could go against the Constitution's Articles 28G (2) and 28H (1), which set out the right "to be free from torture of inhuman or degrading treatment" and "the right to physical and mental wellbeing".

One problem with this action is that if the Constitutional Court agreed, it would not help the person appealing the case, because the ruling would apply from the date of the decision.

This means individuals have been reluctant to take this legal course, because they would not benefit from it.

But Dr Pascoe argues such a case, which would presumably see international witnesses brought to testify about the mental anguish of being on death-row, would see "heavy moral and political pressure" falling on the President to grant clemency.

Heartbreaking ... Myuran Sukumaran's sister Brintha and mother Raji Sukumaran at Nusakambangan Island. Picture: Adam Taylor Source: News Corp Australia

Another potential challenge arises from 2010 amendments designed to streamline the clemency process. The amendments mandate a strict one-year time limit to apply for clemency after the legal process has exhausted.

He says this could potentially be challenged in the Constitutional Court by arguing that the one-year limit "inhibits the ability of a prisoner to make an effective petition (to the President)".

This could be challenged on the basis of Article 28A in the Indonesian Constitution, which sets out the "Right to Life and to Defend Life and Existence".

Dr Pascoe cites numerous international treaties to which Indonesia is a signatory, which safeguard the rights of those facing execution.

A final ground for challenge relates to the Peninjaun Kembali, or PK, the extraordinary judicial review by the Supreme Court, which every prisoner is entitled to apply for after being sentenced to death.

Engaged ... Andrew Chan's fiance, Febyanti, at Nusakambangan Island yesterday. Picture: Adam Taylor Source: News Corp Australia

Historically, every prisoner was only allowed to apply for one PK, and it had to be on the grounds of new evidence or an error at law by sentencing judges.

The nature of the PK has changed after the Constitutional Court in 2014 struck out a law limiting a person to only one PK. Prisoners have also used the hearings to present arguments about rehabilitation.

"The ability to file more than one extraordinary case … if the requisite grounds can be found, has the potential to delay execution even further, allowing rehabilitative and political grounds for clemency more time to develop," writes Dr Pascoe.

All this lends some hope to the two Australians and the others who have been listed for the firing squad.

Even if today's hearing fails, expect to see new legal efforts made along these lines.

Indonesia has been inconsistent on the entire execution process and it remains to be seen whether it will tolerate new cases.

All that can be relied on are the words of Attorney-General HM Prasetyo, who said last Friday: "We are waiting for all the legal action (to conclude) because we don't want any trouble afterwards."

Raw prawns send Emilie, Sheri packing

A FEW raw prawns have sent Queensland buddies Emilie and Sheri back north of the border, in a close sudden death cook-off against My Kitchen Rules record holders Eva and Debra.

The Kitchen HQ elimination tested Emilie's nerves especially, with the young mother riding an emotional roller coaster as her team prepped an ambitious menu of beef carpaccio, prawn linguine and cherry crostata with ginger cream.

Record holder ... Debra managed to account for the competition. Picture: Supplied Source: Supplied

While their entree was hailed a hit by the judges, the main proved the difference — with Sheri failing to cook the key ingredient — green prawns — thoroughly enough.

The Spice Girls in turn delivered a flavourful menu of home favourites, scoring high praise for their steamed mussels in Asian broth entree and main credited as 'Mum's chicken curry'.

Judge Manu Feildel declared Eva and Debra's entree as the "best dish of the night" and said "I have nothing bad to say about it."

Stress test ... Emilie get a little bit worked up in the kitchen. Picture: Supplied Source: Supplied

Guest judge Karen Martini praised their menu for being "punchy and lively" while Guy Grossi said their meals were "thoughtful" and "sophisticated."

But they also struggled with their dessert of banana cake with salted caramel sauce, which was criticised for being under seasoned.

In the final count, the Queensland team pulled a solid score of 41/60, but were pipped by the Perth pairing who earned 45/60.

The next team challenge, to air on Wednesday night, involves a pub crawl with a difference.

Why Tom and Katie no longer talk

THINGS are not good between Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise.

The pair, who famously married in an elaborate Italian ceremony in 2006 and divorced in 2012, are not on speaking terms, reports TMZ.

The New York Post reports that Holmes, 36, and Cruise, 52, who are parents to 8-year-old Suri Cruise, rely on the help of intermediaries to communicate about their daughter.

Sources tell the site that each side harbours negative feelings.

An insider also revealed that Holmes is displeased with Cruise's lack of involvement in his daughter's life.

He just wrapped shooting "Mission Impossible 5" in London and hasn't seen Suri in months — although sources add he plans to upon his return to Los Angeles, where Holmes relocated last summer.

From the "Top Gun" star's perspective, an informant tells TMZ, Cruise is concerned with Holmes' choice of male companions for fear of a negative influence on their daughter.

The source didn't comment on her alleged relationship with Jamie Foxx.

Gunmen shoot dead tourists at museum

Shooting ... Tunisian security forces secure the area after gunmen attacked Tunis' famed Bardo Museum. Picture: AFP Source: AFP

NINETEEN people have been killed after a shooting attack at a Tunisian museum with two gunmen taking hostages before they were shot dead.

Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid said that 19 people had died and that 22 tourists and another two Tunisian men were injured.

The two men took about 30 people hostage before security forces stormed the building and killed them. It is believed that one member of the security team was killed during the gunfire.

The attack on the National Bardo Museum prompted the evacuation of Tunisia's parliament building, which is adjacent to the museum.

French Prime Minister Manuel Valls confirmed that hostages were taken during the attack.

"I condemn this terrorist attack in the strongest terms. There has been a hostage-taking, without doubt tourists have been affected, killed," Mr Valls said in Brussels after talks with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.

"This attack cruelly illustrates the threat that we are all confronted with in Europe, in the Mediterranean, around the world. France, Tunisia and Europe will act together to fight terrorism," Mr Valls added.

Private radio station Radio Mosaique said that the men dressed in military-style clothing were controlling the museum for a period.

Mohamed Ali Aroui, an Interior Ministry spokesman who detailed the deaths at the Bardo Museum in Tunis, called the attackers Islamists in remarks on national radio.

Mr Aroui said on Radio Mosaique that one of the dead was a Tunisian. It is believed that the other seven were European.

The museum is a leading tourist attraction that chronicles Tunisia's history and houses one of the world's largest collections of Roman mosaics.

It is unclear who the attackers are. Tunisia has struggled with violence by Islamic extremists in recent years, including some linked to the Islamic State group.

Tunisia is where the Arab Spring - the anti-government protests across the Middle East - started in December 2010. A poor 26-year-old man set himself on fire in front of a Tunisian government building that month, after police confiscated his vegetable cart, sparking protests.

Then in 2011 Tunisia managed to overthrow is authoritarian president.

It has been more stable than other countries in the region, but it has struggled with violence by Islamic extremists in recent years, including some linked to IS.

It also has extremists linked to al-Qaeda's North Africa arm who occasionally target Tunisian security forces.

FOR My Kitchen Rules' Nikki Spehar, a fling with fellow competitor Steve Flood was "nothing special".

The blonde butcher opened up about the tryst to Confidential.

WHAT KATIE SAID: Fling revealed

"It was all just one night out, it wasn't anything special," she said.

"Why not, you are in the moment. It was at the very beginning. I don't think I regret it."

But she said the casanova was not boyfriend material.

Copping a large amount of criticism from viewers has been a hurdle that Speharhas handled well.

"They love to hate us," she said of herself and teammate Katie Brooke.

"I find it mostly hilarious. You realise the mean ones (comments) are from mean people."

After some very strategic voting from their fellow competitors, the girls were eliminated last night.

Brooke said they did not hold any grudges towards the other teams.

"It is a competition and you expect that," she said.

"The judges didn't give us anything less than a five for our dishes, so it was a bit harsh to get a one, but that's the game."

How smuggler escaped execution

Australia's Grand Mufti is in Jakarta pleading mercy for Bali Nine duo Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran.

Indonesian judges have recommended a fifteen year prison sentence for Peter Hans Naumann who was detained at Bali's airport on September 26 for allegedly swallowing capsules of cocaine weighing 239 grams after arriving from Bangkok. Picture: Sonny Tumbelaka Source: AFP

A GERMAN man has escaped the death penalty after being convicted of trying to smuggle cocaine into Bali.

Peter Hans Naumann's sentence of 15 years' jail comes as Indonesian authorities prepare to execute up to 10 foreign drug offenders including Bali Nine Australians Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran.

Naumann, 48, was arrested by customs officials at the resort island's airport in September after they noticed him acting suspiciously following his arrival on a flight from Bangkok.

An initial search turned up no drugs but further examinations in hospital found he had 11 capsules of cocaine in his stomach.

He confessed during his trial that he had been promised $US5000 ($A6560) to deliver the drugs.

Presiding judge Putu Gde Hariyadi told a court in the Balinese capital Denpasar Naumann had been "proven legally and convincingly guilty of importing narcotics".

The judge said mitigating factors included that "the defendant regretted his action, was polite during the trial and had not been involved in a crime before".

He handed him a 15-year jail term, and ordered him to pay a fine of one billion rupiah $US75,700 ($A99,370) or spend an additional three months in jail.

However, judges decided not hand him the toughest penalty in Indonesia for drug trafficking, the death sentence.

President Joko Widodo, who took office in October, has taken a hard line against the drugs trade, claiming that Indonesia is facing an "emergency" due to rising narcotics use, and vowing to show no clemency for traffickers on death row.

Kid’s priceless reaction to PM

Some of Tony Abbott's close indigenous allies have distanced themselves after his lifestyle choice comments.

EVEN the kids can't handle it anymore.

As Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott's latest comments spark worldwide outrage, an image has emerged portraying the collective sigh of the nation.

The kids these days might even call it a "face palm".

Mr Abbott's latest gaffe, in which he described indigenous rural communities as a "lifestyle choice", has prompted the re-emergence of a picture from a school visit the Prime Minister and his wife, Margie, made last year.

We'll let the kid tell the story here.

The picture, taken last August, has become such a hit, Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young couldn't help but share it online.

"This poor kid can't take it anymore. I know exactly how he feels," she wrote.

The post has since received more than 80,000 Likes.

At the time, Mr Abbott described the visit to Seaforth Public School, located in his electorate of Warringah on Sydney's northern beaches, as a "terrific morning" but it seems not all the kids shared the same view.

Maybe it was his 2013 election campaign plea to vote for the "guy with the not-bad-looking daughters" via a video message to the Big Brother housemates.

Or perhaps the time when he said virginity was "a gift" and couples should try to abide by "the rules" when it comes to sex before marriage.

Or maybe it was the time he joked that dressing up as a policeman "was quite good at getting the [indigenous] kids to turn up [at school]".

Either way, this kid probably wishes he didn't turn up that day.

Keep up the good work, Mr Abbott.

The joke Chris Rock regrets making

From Jay-Z, Kanye West and Questlove comes TOP FIVE starring Chris Rock, Rosario Dawson, Kevin Hart and more. Courtesy: Top Five Movie

He nailed it ... Chris Rock in Sydney. Picture: Cameron Adams Source: News Corp Australia

WRITER-DIRECTOR-ACTOR Chris Rock, in town to promote his Toronto-feted comedy Top Five, talks about turning 50, making movies for the hotel cleaner, and why he regrets THAT Jude Law Oscars joke.

You just turned 50. That's a time when a lot of people stop and take stock. Did you?

I probably started doing that around 48. It was like: OK, this thing is coming up. I've done everything I wanted to do for the most part. (So it was more like) do you want to be a better father, do you want to be a better friend, do you want to be a better son?

How did you celebrate?

I just hung out with my kids. It was my weekend with them. We went to the mall, went shopping and got them some stuff. It was kind of about them, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. It was great. They got me a cake and they sang Happy Birthday and they sprayed me with silly string.

Quite a team ... Rosario Dawson and Chris Rock in Top Five. Source: Supplied

You character in Top Five practices the 12-step AA program, which turns up surprisingly often in movies. Is that because addiction makes for good drama?

Addiction has been good to me in art, I gotta say. I played a crack-head in New Jack City a long time ago. I played an alcoholic on Broadway more recently (The Motherf---er With the Hat). It's good stuff for drama. And especially comedies. And especially movies where people direct themselves. I hate when I watch a movie where somebody directed themselves and they made themselves perfect. No names but I have seen it. You are thinking, 'Can the guy have one fault?'

In the movie, your character is haunted by the words of one influential critic. Was there a particularly harsh review you still haven't forgotten?

I don't remember the line but I did a movie CB4 a long time ago, the rap Spinal Tappish movie, and one critic rhymed his whole review: 'I paid 10 bucks and this movie sucks.' I don't mind a bad review, I just mind when they get personal.

So you do read them, then.

I read the (New York) Times every day. Why would I stop when it got to my film? I love a good A.O. Scott review. And by the way, they are right most of the time. I do some dumb comedy, they rip it apart. I do a documentary on hair and it gets great reviews.

Comedy of a kind ... Michael Keaton and Emma Stone in Birdman. Source: Supplied

There was a lot of talk, just after the bidding war at the Toronto Film Festival, that Top Five could be the film to break the Oscar comedy drought.

Guess what, didn't happen! I mean, Birdman is just about a comedy. It's a comedy for people that go to theatre. But it's not a comedy for the person who has to clean this room later. Hopefully Top Five works for both.

The two films are not thematically dissimilar.

Top Five is Birdman for people that make under $100,000 a year.

According to your leading lady, Rosario Dawson, you joke that she interviewed you for the job.

She did. She made me jump through hoops. She would not agree to do this movie. I said, 'Dude, come on. I wrote this part for you. It's perfect'. I got her eventually but it took a while.

Last chance ... Erica Long and Rock in Top Five. Source: Supplied

You have said that if you didn't get this movie right, you probably weren't going to get the opportunity to direct again.

How many times are you going to burn the meal before you order in? At some point, you as a sane person don't want to waste everybody's time. I mean, when should you go, 'I am 50'? Everybody has limitations.

On the other hand, you don't learn a craft overnight.

It probably took me 17 years to learn how to do decent stand-up. I had success but I didn't really find my voice until I had being doing it that long.

At times, you have pushed the envelope with your humour. Looking back, do you think you ever went too far?

I probably should have went easier on Jude Law at the Oscars. Other than that ... what's youth about? Are you going to waste your youth being safe? Then you get to middle age and you do whatever you have to do to pay your mortgage. And then when you get old you should get reckless again.

How might you do things differently?

You just gotta be sensitive to people. I was young, I honestly didn't know what the Oscars were. I mean, I knew what they were. I knew they were the show in which they give out the awards for excellence in cinema. I did not know they were a religion!

Thousands want ‘violent’ Clarkson back

BBC suspends the host of TV show "Top Gear", Jeremy Clarkson, after "fracas'"with producer. Natasha Howitt reports.

Suspended ... Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson. Picture: AP Source: AP

MORE than 420,000 people have signed a petition demanding Jeremy Clarkson stay on as Top Gear presenter — but he has other ideas.

The controversial host is considering leaving the BBC even if he is cleared of claims he punched a producer during an on-set "fracas", a source told RadioTimes.com

The BBC reportedly suspended the 54-year-old, who was on a "final warning", after he allegedly punched producer Oisin Tymon because there was no food laid out at the end of a long day of filming.

Clarkson "saw red" and "snapped" over the catering issue, according to the Daily Mirror.

The outspoken host reportedly told friends he didn't punch Tymon, but admitted there had been "handbags and pushing."

The source told RadioTimes.com: "The last three episodes of this series have been pulled. Can I see him going back to film another BBC series? I don't think so. But he'll be fine. The other broadcasters will bite his arm off."

Clarkson has not responded to the latest claims, only saying that he is waiting for his suspension to "blow over".

"I'm having a nice cold pint and waiting for this to blow over," he was quoted as saying inThe Sun daily.

The BBC said on Tuesday it had suspended Clarkson and cancelled coming episodes of his immensely popular motoring television program after he was involved in a "fracas" with a producer.

The outspoken presenter has helped Top Gear become one of the BBC's biggest shows, drawing 350 million viewers a week in 170 countries.

Supporters ... more than 400,000 people have signed an online petition demanding Jeremy Clarkson stay on as Top Gear host. Picture: Change.org Source: Supplied

No sooner had the suspension been announced that fans set up a Change.org petition urging the BBC to reinstate Clarkson.

"We the undersigned petition the BBC to reinstate Jeremy Clarkson. Freedom to fracas," said the online appeal at change.org.

"I'm signing because Clarkson is a superb presenter and Top Gear is without doubt one (of) the BBC's better programs. The viewing figures support this," wrote a supporter named Peter Maxwell.

Supporter Veronique Favreau from London wrote: "I pay my TV license to ensure that irreverent people can express themselves. If you become boarding and politically correct, you may disappear BBC."

More than 426,000 people have signed the petition, cerated by blogger Guido Fawkes.

Love him or hate him ... Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson is a divisive character. Picture: AFP Source: AFP

A petition for the BBC to sack him had just 800 supporters.

"Clarkson has got away with his bigoted rantings for far too long while others have been sacked for less. Why do the BBC let him get away with it?" signatory Caryne Pearce said.

Clarkson indicated in February he might have been unhappy with the show by tweeting: "Wanted: new presenter for Top Gear. Applicant should be old, badly dressed and pedantic but capable of getting to work on time."

The BBC cancelled the broadcast of the latest episode scheduled for Sunday, in which Clarkson and co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May were to showcase classic cars.

This is Bali Nine duo’s last chance

Nightmare ... Bali Nine ringleaders Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran are facing execution. Picture: AP Photo/Firdia Lisnawati Source: Supplied

Chinthu Sukumaran makes a statement out the front of Nusakambangan Island port before travelling over and visiting his brother and Bali Nine ringleader Myuran Sukumaran.

IT'S been said before but this time it seems certain — this is the last roll of the dice for Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran.

The two men will not appear in person when the State Administrative Court in Jakarta today hears an appeal against a decision it made in February.

They will remain on the prison island of Nusakambangan, praying that high-profile lawyer Todung Mulya Lubis can persuade the court to look again at its earlier decision.

The State Administrative Court is something like the Administrative Appeals Tribunal in Australia, which examines decisions made by government.

Last chance ... Todung Mulya Lubis, lawyer for Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, during an interview in his office in Jakarta. Picture: Ardiles Rante Source: Supplied

In the February case, Mr Lubis challenged President Joko Widodo's decision to refuse the death-row inmates' clemency appeals.

Mr Lubis argued that the President's blanket clemency rejections for all 64 death-row inmates (now 58 after six were executed in January) showed a lack of justice and sound governance.

He said each case should have been considered on individual merit, but the court disagreed, saying President Widodo had absolute power to grant or refuse clemency at his own discretion.

Today's hearing will challenge the court's ruling and will seek to urge the court to compel President Widodo to make known his reasons for rejecting the pleas.

Mr Lubis told News Corp this week as he was preparing for the case: "I think as a matter of justice, Sukumaran and Andrew Chan have the right to know why the clemency petition was rejected.

"The court can revoke the decree as not in accordance with the law, with fairness and good governance."

Would he reconsider? ... Even if an appeals court rules in favour of Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran it is unclear if Indonesian President Joko Widodo would reconsider clemency. Picture: AFP Source: AFP

It remains to be seen whether the court can be persuaded to intervene and challenge one of the powers of the Indonesian President, given it has already said it could not.

The previous unsuccessful case was heard in chambers before the judges who dismissed it on the same day.

It could be that today's legal arguments, between Mr Lubis's team and lawyers representing the President, could also be held away from public view.

In the unlikely event that the court decided to quash its earlier ruling, it is not clear what would happen next.

It would almost certainly buy time for Chan and Sukumaran, but there would be no reason why President Widodo could not reconsider the clemency appeal again, and reject it again if he so chose.

The difference would be that he would be required to give his reasons for denying clemency.

The news comes as the family of Myuran Sukumaran has told how scared they are that he may die and have apologised for his crime and asked for mercy.

In an interview on Indonesian television network, SCTV, Sukumaran's brother Chinthu, told Wednesday night of the family's shock and shame at his arrest in 2005.

"He was 23-years-old when he was arrested and the family were very shocked and ashamed of what happened and we were surprised by everything," Chinthu said during the interview, filmed in Cilacap, Central Java, the town closest the island jail, where the Bali Nine families are waiting for news.

The families, including Andrew Chan's fiance Febyanti, visited the duo Wednesday in Besi prison, where they are being held in quarantine holding cells pending further announcements about their upcoming executions.

Chinthu highlighted the work done inside Bali's Kerobokan prison, where his brother set up art and other rehabilitation programs which have helped scores of Indonesian prisoners to reform and find their way in life.

"Inside the prison he has done many good things to make up for what he did, to say sorry to Indonesia and it was because of the Indonesian justice system ... that he was given a chance to say sorry and to help many people and the family is very grateful that the prison and the guards have supported him and helped him to become a better man," Chinthu said.

"And now we are very scared that he may die."

Chinthu said his brother deserved to be punished for his crime, but not with his life.

"He did something wrong, he committed a crime and he deserves to be punished. We accept that he must be punished, we just don't want him to be executed, we want him to stay in prison ...

"We don't ask that he goes free, we just ask that he be allowed to stay in prison and continue to help people. There are many prisoners that have talked about the things he has done to help people ... he has helped people to get skills, Indonesian prisoners, so that when they are released back into the community they can get a job and he is very grateful for that.

"We are very sorry and we just ask that the Indonesian people and the Indonesian Government show mercy."

It is the third Indonesian television interview the Bali Nine families have done in recent weeks in a bid to take their message of rehabilitation and redemption to decision makers and the President in Jakarta.

Meanwhile one of the men set to execute Chan and Sukumaran is distressed about enforcing the death penalty.

The Indonesian Brimob police officer, who was also involved in the executions of five drug runners in January, said he has to live with his task "for the rest of his life".

Attorney-General HM Prasetyo has said 13 firing squads are rehearsing for the coming executions which will see Chan, Sukumaran and up to 11 other convicted drug traffickers shot dead with Indonesian-made, standard-issue SS1 assault rifles.

"As Brimob, I have to do my job and I don't have any choice," the shooter, who cannot be named, told News Corp.

"But as a human, I will never forget this for the rest of my life.

"This, I will keep as a secret all my life."

Meanwhile the families of Chan and Sukumaran saw the men yesterday in what was their second visit since the pair's dramatic transfer to Nusakambangan island last week.

It was the first time Chan had seen his fiancee, Febyanti Herewila, who was turned away from Kerobokan jail in tears on the morning of his departure.

Before boarding the boat over to the island, Sukumaran's brother Chinthu asked the Indonesian President to show mercy and allow the Bali Nine pair to spend the rest of their lives in prison.

"Our family remains hopeful that the President will get to see how much Myu and Andrew have done inside the prison to help the Indonesian people and that he will show mercy on our family," he said.

This came as it emerged billionaire businessman Richard Branson had written to Indonesian President Joko Widodo, urging him to spare the lives of Chan, 31, and Sukumaran, 33.

The Virgin chief, a member of the Global Commission on Drug Policy, said in a letter to the Indonesian leader that he was willing to fly to Jakarta to discuss the issue.

"We have done a lot of research into the war on drugs on a global basis," he told the ABC.

Late yesterday, Australia's top Islamic Cleric, Grand Mufti Ibrahim Mohamed arrived in Jakarta to plead for mercy for the Bali Nine duo.

Earlier yesterday Prime Minister Tony Abbott had refused to entertain Jakarta's threat to allow asylum seekers to head for Australia in response to any upset over the executions.

Mr Abbott responded to the warning that Indonesia could release a "human tsunami" by saying he wanted to find a constructive solution.

"I'm not in the business of picking fights with anyone," he said.

Meanwhile Frenchman Serge Areski Atlaoui, who was sentenced to death in 2007 for his role in producing ecstasy from a factory in Banten, near Jakarta, has had a temporary reprieve, with judges setting aside a decision on his judicial review until March 25.

Atlaoui, 51, was scheduled to be executed along with Chan and Sukumaran, but the extension on his case means it is unlikely he would be shot in the coming round.

There are also rumours that schizophrenic Brazilian Rodrigo Gularte's name has also been removed from the list pending medical evaluation, along with Filipino woman Mary Jane Fiesta Velosa, who also has further court hearings.

Chan and Sukumaran have a final chance in court on Thursday, where lawyers will argue that the State Administrative Court erred when it chose not to examine President Widodo's decision not to grant clemency.

A V/LINE conductor was punched in the mouth by a passenger during a vicious brawl at a railway station outside Geelong.

The fight is believed to have started after a man and woman failed to produce valid tickets after getting off a Melbourne-bound service at Lara railway station on Tuesday afternoon.

Witnesses who watched the brawl from the train were appalled by the level of force applied by V/Line's ticket inspectors, Channel 9 reported.

V/Line spokesman Colin Tyrus said the passengers stepped off the train with a number of transit officers about 3pm.

He said the pair failed to produce tickets when asked by the V/Line staff and became aggressive towards them.

An altercation then erupted on the platform, during which the train's conductor was punched in the face by one of the passengers, Mr Tyrus said.

He said the conductor needed medical treatment for injuries to her teeth, mouth and lips.

"She's recovering OK," he said.

Footage of the brawl — captured by witnesses and aired on Channel 9 — shows one of the passengers screaming "get off my head" as he's wrestled to the concrete.

The woman passenger is shown being held up against a fence before she too becomes involved in a wrestling match with V/Line staff.

Mr Tyrus said V/Line was investigating the incident.

"We won't tolerate violence against our staff," he said.

Police have also launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Victoria Police spokeswoman Natalie Webster said police attended the train station just after 3pm yesterday after reports of a man and woman becoming aggressive towards V/Line staff.

Titanic director to open a ... vegan school?

HE'S better known for directing films like Avatar and Titanic, but James Cameron and his wife Suzy Amis Cameron don't just own a school — they're planning to make it a plant food-only school.

The MUSE School in California is a private school that caters for students from early childhood right through to high school. The Cameron's founded it in 2006, along with Suzy's sister Rebecca.

"By celebrating community and the natural environment, promoting cross-cultural experiences, modelling leadership, and illustrating that learning and teaching are collaborative efforts, MUSE School fosters graduates who become bold leaders fully prepared to face challenges, to live beyond complacency, and to embrace learning and change throughout their lives," the school's website states.

Set on 22 acres in the Malibu Canyon, the school has a strong "sustainable living" focus, complete with lots of play space, water features, outdoor classrooms, and "organic fruit and vegetable plots that supply the foundation for our Seed-to-Table Program."

The next step in that phase is making the school vegan.

"In the fall of 2015, MUSE will be the only school we are aware of that is completely plant-based," Suzy told The Hollywood Reporter.

"Plant-based eating — meaning the meals that are served at MUSE will be 100 per cent plant-based," clarified James. "The average person would say vegan, but we say whole food, plant-based.

"It's about raising kids who don't think it's strange or exotic or worthy of a pat on the back to be doing the right thing for the living biosphere."

Bearing in mind that American schools serve lunch, menu items will reportedly include Sloppy Joes and quesadillas but will exclude meat, cheese and other animal products, according to TODAY.com.

The Camerons have been vegan since 2012, with Suzy telling Grist that "You can't really call yourself an environmentalist if you're still consuming animals. You just can't."

You can send your child to the school for US$23,625 if they're primary-aged, and US$28,000 for high-school kids.

Did stepbrother hack Becky to pieces?

Murdered ... Becky Watts, 16, vanished from her home on February 19. Picture: Supplied Source: Supplied

UK Police searching for missing Bristol teenager Becky Watts have found body parts at a property near her family home.

BECKY WATTS' stepbrother and his girlfriend are being questioned by police on suspicion of kidnapping and murdering the missing Bristol teenager.

Nathan Matthews, 28, and Shauna Phillips, 21, remain in custody after police discovered body parts at a Barton Court property in their hunt for the 16-year-old.

Detectives have been granted another 24 hours to question Matthews and Phillips, who were arrested on Saturday, The Telegraph in the UK reports. Police have until Wednesday afternoon to charge or release the pair.

BECKY WATTS SEARCH: Body parts found

Matthews is reportedly the son of Anjie Galsworthy who is married to Becky's dad, Darren Galsworthy. Matthews, a delivery driver, and Phillips have a two-year-old daughter.

Avon and Somerset Police are also questioning another four men and a woman, all in their 20s, on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Friends have expressed shock at the couple's arrest, saying they were just "normal people".

"She (Phillips) messaged me on the Friday and she asked me if I had seen Becky or I could help with the search," a friend, who has not been identified, told The Mirror.

"The police came to speak to me and as soon as they announced the ages I just knew it was them. She's just a normal person, they both are. There's no reason they could do it. I've been racking my brains but I just don't get it."

Phillips had posted many articles and shared heartfelt messages about Becky's disappearance on her Facebook page.

An acquaintance of Matthews, who did not want to be named, said he was "pleasant".

"I have spoken to police about Nathan. He is a very pleasant chap and I am surprised about his arrest. He is quite a reserved guy and has good discipline from his time in the Army," he told The Bristol Post.

Well wishers have left floral tributes close to Becky's home in St George and the property in Barton Court where body parts, believed to be the teen's, were found.

Police said formal identification procedures of the body parts have not yet been completed.

Becky's family said they were devastated after hearing police found body parts.

"We are devastated to be told of this latest development. We are at an utter loss to understand why anyone would want to hurt our beautiful Becky in such a brutal way," the teenager's mother Tania Watts, brother Daniel and grandmother Pat said in a statement.

Becky's father and stepmother, Darren and Anjie Galsworthy, said: "To receive such news as we did about our dear daughter and stepdaughter Becky is too much to bear."

Becky's family reported her missing on February 20 after she left home with her phone, laptop and tablet computer, but no extra clothing.

After extensive searches, police announced on March 2 they were treating Becky's disappearance as a murder investigation.

A social media campaign, using the hashtag #FindBecky, has gained thousands of hits.

Why Indonesia will kill them

THE countdown to death has begun with a carefully stage-managed display of overkill force by Indonesia, which could see them extinguish the lives of Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran just after midnight on Sunday.

There will be no mercy and no pity, but it appears the two Australians did not ask for any once they learned their fate was sealed, instead shaking hands and saying goodbye to their guards and old friends at the jail.

Chan and Sukumaran got special treatment in their high-impact transfer today, the type no other foreign death-row drug trafficker has ever received in this country.

FINAL DAYS: Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran go to execution island

COUNTRY IN SHOCK: How Australians will react to executions

Heavily armed men in armoured personnel carriers took the men from their cells before dawn, taking them in convoy to the airport where they were loaded onto an ATR turboprop charter plane under heavy guard.

Just before 6am, local time, fighter jets began taking off, followed by the ATR, for their flight west to the southern Java city of Cilacap, close by the prison island of Nusakambangan.

The jets, which over the last week had been making deliberate flyovers of Kerobokan prison, presumably for the benefit of the Australian media stationed there, were on Tuesday loaded and locked with what appeared to be sidewinder missiles.

Altogether hundreds of police and military were involved in the operation. The United States Navy Seals used less men and equipment to kill Osama bin Laden.

This ludicrous show of force was not because there was any chance Chan and Sukumaran could make a break for it, or that Australian special forces were going to stage a rescue mission.

It was all about telling Australia to mind its own business, in a furious backlash to what it perceived as interference in its sovereign right to enact its own laws.

But Australia never questioned Indonesia's rights. It only asked, as politely as possible, that they reconsider the plans to kill the men.

Things became distorted when Tony Abbott reminded Indonesia of the help Australia had given after the 2004 tsunami, causing Indonesia to react with indignation.

President Joko Widodo was never going to do Australia any favours. Instead, he did the opposite, using the two men in a high-viz. display that appeared designed to punish Australia for daring to speak out for their rights as humans.

The President may consider what happened a show of national strength, but has instead only revealed that he personally lacks mercy and compassion.

Indonesia is a great country with a deserved sense of self-pride, but it wasn't evident during the transfer. It was more like a nightmare circus.

It has let itself down in treating two rehabilitated criminals like the world's most dangerous men.

Chan and Sukumaran must be baffled that they, after 10 years in prison, have at the end become used in what is a game of one-upmanship by Indonesia.

The way the four fighter jets circled over the Cilacap airport, doing victory wing tilts after escorting the charter plane, was melodramatic and impressed no one apart from some schoolchildren behind the airport who did not understand what they were doing.

The kids cheered as a Sukhoi flew low over their school. But this is not the Indonesia they want to grow up in, the country that so many around the world, not the least in Australia, admire and respect for its kind and gracious people.

Deadly virus hits Australia

Dangerous virus ... A deadly strain of flu that killed Americans in epidemic proportions is already in Australia. Picture: Supplied Source: Supplied

THE roll out of the flu vaccine will be delayed by more than a month this year, leaving vulnerable patients exposed to an H3N2 strain that has killed Americans in epidemic proportions.

The nation's medicines watchdog said yesterday the influenza vaccination program would be delayed from the usual start date of 15 March until April 2015.

"The 2015 Program start date has been put back due to a double strain change from the 2014 influenza vaccine which has led to manufacturing delays," the TGA said.

There have already been more than 2,401 cases of influenza notified in Australia, well above average for this time of year.

Queensland is experiencing the worst outbreak with nearly 500 cases in January.

The number of cases is likely to be even higher than this because these are only laboratory confirmed cases of the flu.

The H3N2 flu was the dominant strain in the United States this year, and a US Centre for Disease Control report shows deaths from influenza and pneumonia in 122 cities was above epidemic proportions, influenza expert Dr Alan Hampson said.

KILLER FLU strike US

SWINE FLU strikes again

Experts report that seasons when H3 viruses are predominant see more hospitalisation from flu and more deaths from the flu.

"I think you can be sure it is H3N2 virus in Australia," he said.

There is also a major outbreak of Swine flu in India at the moment, he said.

US officials revealed in December the flu vaccination in that country was not protective against about half the H3N2 cases of flu circulating that season.

The World Health Organisation has also expressed "particular concern" about changes in the H3N2 seasonal influenza viruses, which have affected the protection conferred by the current vaccine".

"As a result, interim estimates of the effectiveness of the current seasonal vaccine in reducing the risk of medical visits associated with influenza infection — in all age groups — was only 23 per cent in the US," the WHO says.

Strong vaccine ... Although the US flu vaccine did not protect against the strain of H3N2, Australia's vaccine will. Picture: News Corp Australia Source: News Limited

However, Dr Hampson said Australia's flu vaccine would protect against this killer strain.

'"Our vaccine has been updated and will cover this strain," he said.

The chair of the Australian Influenza Specialist Group Dr Alan Hampson said normally it was not until June that we saw a spike in cases.

And the late roll out of the vaccine would put pressure on doctors to get patients immunised before the outbreak occurred, he said.

Dr Hampson said the delays in producing this year's vaccine were related to difficulties growing the flu strains in laboratories.

"They don't often grow to the right level," he said.

And the problem was compounded by the need to include two new strains of flu in the vaccine.

Australia's Commonwealth Serum Laboratories produces flu vaccine locally but its vaccine cannot be used in children aged under five.

Held up ... Australia's flu vaccine has been delayed because of problems in manufacturing. Picture: Supplied Source: Supplied

Dr Hampson says the government has had to wait for overseas suppliers to ship in vaccines that can be used in young children and this has also delayed the roll out of the flu vaccines.

Free flu vaccine is available for the over 65s, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from 15 years of age, pregnant women, anyone aged six months and over with heart disease, severe asthma, chronic lung condition, chronic illness, diseases of the nervous system, impaired immunity, diabetes.

The flu is caused by a virus that spreads through the air by coughing, sneezing or talking, and by touching a person's hands or surfaces touched by and infected person.

It infects the nose, throat and lungs and includes symptoms cold as symptoms such as fever, sore throat and muscle aches, it last about a week but can cause complications like pneumonia and bronchitis or death.
